Kim Hye-sung signed a contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, the defending champion of the Major League Baseball (MLB).
An official from CAA, Kim Hye-sung's agency, said on the 4th (Korea Standard Time) that Kim Hye-sung agreed with the Dodgers for up to $22 million (about 32.4 billion won) for 3+2 years.
The guarantee contract is a three-year total of $12.5 million (about 18.4 billion won) and includes an option to extend the two-year contract thereafter.
CAA explained, "The Los Angeles Angels offered $28 million for five years, and the Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs, and San Diego Padres also offered it, but chose the Dodgers."
However, according to the CAA, the right to reject the minor league is reportedly excluded from the contract. Accordingly, Kim can become a real big leaguer only when she overcome fierce competition for survival in the spring camp that will begin next month.
